Belle van Zuylen Prize nomination

Fantastic and unexpected news - my master thesis “When Extremes Meet: Compositional Elements of Animals as Leaders’ Music in Writing for a Modern Electric Small Jazz Ensemble” got nominated for the Belle van Zuylen Prize for outstanding artistic research in music in 2021/22. I'm honoured to be one of the three people to present their work at the final round that will take place on the 25th of May at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. Especially that this research was extremely important in setting the direction as a composer for me. Many things followed that were a direct result of it, such as the very existence of my prog jazz project Josef Kowalsky and the music I composed for this band. Two years later and I still open that file to look for inspiration and it's not even close to exhausted.

Enjoy the only meme I've ever made just to put on the title page of my master thesis (yes, really).

Now, fingers crossed for the final round! 🤞
